Praise For Feelings

The goal of therapy is never ever to get RID of anxiety, depression or other uncomfortable feelings.

What?!

The goal of therapy is to build tolerance for these things. Therapy helps us withstand the storms that life throws, not to avoid them all together. Trying to avoid them is literally what causes anxiety in the first place!

Feelings like fear, anger or sadness are gifts from God. They are our warning signals that something isn’t right. If your goal is to “get rid” of these things, you are attempting to override this beautiful system that keeps us alive and more importantly, the system that connects us to God.

Today, I encourage you to praise God for your feelings (alllllll of them) and watch what He does.
